Fri 20 June 2008
PRIMARY one children from Bunscoil an luir have benefited from some good dental care advice in time for National Smile Month. The advice was provided by Dr Katrina McKevitt and Dr Conor McEnhill of Apple Tree Dental Practice who took the opportunity to raise awareness of the link between oral and body health.
The Kilmorey Street practice has joined hundreds of others in running the Brush for Health campaign which started on Sunday and will last until June 17.
"We are delighted to get involved in National Smile Month in Newry," said Dr McKevitt. "Good oral healthcare is vital for a healthy mouth and body and we are very pleased to be able to take this message to the local schools and the community in general."
While at the school Dr McKevitt provided the young children with some sound advice:
"Children and adults should brush their teeth twice a day with the right size of brush."
Dr McKevitt was eager to improve the standard of oral hygine across the board.
"It's important to encourage children from an early age but it's never too late to try to improve your smile with a good dental routine," she added.
