Staff at three Newry facilities are celebrating after winning this year's SuperValu Best Kept Health and Social Care facility awards.
Appletree Dental Care, Newry, won the healthcare category of the awards in the Southern Health Board region, while Lee Opticians, Warrenpoint, came runner up in the same category and Cloghreagh House, Bessbrook, came runner up in the residential category.
Appletree, which is based in The Old Gasworks, Kilmorey Street, is a joint venture by Dr Katrina McKevitt and Dr Conor McEnhill.
Katrina explained: "We consistently focus on the well-being and comfort of the patient. In keeping with this, the practice and all the equipment are state-of-the-art, both in dental treatment terms and client facilities."
No strangers to success, the team were also finalists in the Best New Dental Practice category of the 2006 UK Dentistry Awards.
Doreen Muskett MBE, President of the NIAC, congratulated the winners saying: "We would like to congratulate Appletree Dental Care, Lee Opticians, Cloughreagh House, and the other winning facilities for impressing our judges with their commitment to the physical enhancement of their surroundings."
The prestigious Best Kept Awards are organised annually by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC) and sponsored by independent retail group SuperValu.
Almost 100 health and social care premises across Northern Ireland entered the SuperValu Best Kept Awards scheme this year and NIAC judges have been visiting the facilities since June to find the best kept medical practices, daycare centres, clinics and residential homes.
