Teeth whitening — professional, predictable, with results that last
Whiter teeth are one of the most-requested cosmetic changes — and one of the most often done badly. The market is full of strips, pens and overseas “treatments” that range from ineffective to actively harmful. Done properly, by a dentist who knows your teeth, whitening is safe, predictable and significantly more effective than anything you can buy off the shelf.

- Home Zoom Whitening System — £220. Custom-made trays plus a course of professional-strength gel you use at home over about two weeks. Excellent results, on your schedule.
- Philips Zoom 1-Hour In-Chair Whitening — £449. A single appointment in the practice — accelerated whitening under a controlled light. Trays are included so you can top up at home.
Why have whitening with a dentist?
- Your dentist checks your teeth and gums are in good health before whitening — over-the-counter products don’t, and that’s how patients end up with sensitivity or worse
- The gel strength is significantly higher than retail products, so the result is significantly better
- Whitening is matched to your starting shade and your goal — not a one-size-fits-all
- If sensitivity does come up during the process, we can advise immediately

Frequently asked
How long do the results last?
With careful diet (less tea, coffee, red wine, tobacco), the result lasts a long time. Most patients top up at home with replacement gels (£15 per syringe) every 12–18 months to keep things looking their best.
Will it hurt or cause sensitivity?
Some patients experience mild, short-lived sensitivity during the whitening process — it typically passes within 24–48 hours of finishing. We can advise on managing it.
Will it whiten crowns or veneers?
No — whitening only affects natural tooth structure. If you have restorations on your front teeth, we’ll plan around that.
Is it safe?
Yes, when supervised by a dentist using professional-grade products. We won’t proceed if there’s anything we’d want to address first.
