Dr Conor McEnhill
Dr McEnhill qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 1993 with distinctions in Medicine & Surgery and Microbiology. After a year in general practice he returned to hospital, spending three years in oral and maxillofacial surgery units in Northern Ireland and Wales, culminating in his Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship in 1999.
This was the springboard for his developing interest in dental implants. Further training took place at the Centre for Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry in London’s Harley Street, under Dr Ashok Sethi — widely acknowledged as the foremost authority on dental implants in the UK.
Dr McEnhill is a former winner of the Best Single Implant award at the UK Smile Awards in London. In 2006 he completed the Advanced Implant Dentistry Diploma of the Royal College of Surgeons of London — considered the ‘gold standard’ course in implant dentistry — which included full training in bone augmentation, a frequent pre-requisite to implant placement. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Dental Faculty, the most prestigious post-graduate dental award, and a long-standing member of the Association of Dental Implantology, where he has served on the ADI mentor list providing clinical and academic teaching to other dental professionals.
Dental implant and oral surgery referrals from colleagues account for most of Dr McEnhill’s clinical time. He is one of the few clinicians in Ireland providing ‘socket shield’ techniques during implant treatment, which prevents bone loss around implants and has significantly reduced the amount of bone grafting his patients require.
The practice is equipped with full 3D CT scanning facilities for precise implant planning, and he routinely uses platelet-rich fibrin techniques from a patient’s own blood sample to enable natural grafting — with applications in sinus surgery and bone grafting for the best possible post-operative healing.
